polarsd
1.25” Polarising Star Diagonal
Perfect image brightness control at your fingertips

A quality mirror-based star diagonal with a built-in secret!
Rotating crossed polarising filters are a great way to attenuate image brightness when observing the Moon or other bright targets, and for studying double stars. However, the standard rotating mount filter has some drawbacks in that the eyepiece must be removed each time the observer wishes to make an adjustment. Other solutions have offered an extension barrel with a filter that can be adjusted without removing the eyepiece. However, this solution has the drawback of using up in-focus travel to accommodate the new barrel, and on some instruments this simply does not work.

Our new polarising star diagonal solves these problems. The system comprises a quality machined low-profile mirror-based star-diagonal with a polarising filter fitted to the nosepiece. The second polarising filter is attached to the nosepiece of the chosen eyepiece. To operate the brightness control effect simply rotate the eyepiece while viewing! The brightness control ranges from 1 to 40%.

Contents: 1x 1.25” Star diagonal, 2x 1.25” polarising filters. The polarising filter fitted to the star-diagonal can simply be unscrewed if its removal is required to free the diagonal for general use.

afilter
1.25” MinVB anti-fringing filter
Reduces achromatic halo effects

The MinVB filter is one of the best ways of improving the resolution and contrast of achromatic refracting telescopes. The blue and violet halos commonly seen around bright objects can be a significant problem with popular refractors. Our anti-fringing filter will minimise this effect and introduce the minimum amount of colour bias (yellow). Simply screw the filter to the front of your eyepiece, and the result is better planetary definition (especially noticeable when viewing Jupiter) and generally enhanced contrast and colour definition. Suitable for all achromatic refracting telescopes with 1.25” eyepiece holders. The filter blocks violet and blue light <450nm and passes 95% of all other wavelengths. Supplied in a dust and shockproof case.

shields
Soft Eye-shields for Eyepieces
Improves contrast, increases comfort and combats dewing.

The Soft Eye-Shield comes in two sizes: SE1 (top, seen here fitted to a Meade Zoom Eyepiece) is for eyepiece barrels of 50mm (2") diameter or less, and SE2 (bottom, here fitted to a 22mm Nagler) is for barrels of greater than 50mm. The SE2 eye cushion is made of padded Terry towelling and can be hand-washed and air-dried. Both seal out light and make very comfortable eye surrounds. They are great for solar observation where extraneous light can spoil the view so easily. An ideal aid to combat light pollution, improves the view by minimising the effects of local environment glare.

eyecups
Rubber eyecups (pair) with side wings

These soft rubber eyecups are perfect for daytime viewing, or viewing at night from a light-polluted site. They improve the eyepiece view and comfort greatly, and the side wings or blinkers act as screens to ensure that the minimum amount of extraneous light enters your eye so that you only see the light that has passed through the telescope. They will fit most popular 1.25” Plössl eyepieces. With most eyepieces the existing rubber eyecup should be left in place - simply fit the winged version over the top. Supplied as a pair, they are also the ideal compliment for binocular viewing systems especially when used for solar observing.

easy
Easy-Aim Red Dot LED Reflex Finder
The easy way to point a telescope

Our Easy-Aim red dot finder is an easy to use and precise non-magnifying finder that works with all astronomical telescopes. Even the most seasoned sky-watchers can be caught out by the magnified and inverted or reverted image of a conventional finder. The Easy-Aim allows even the most novice user to point an instrument to targets and alignment stars without the worry of whether you are looking at the right object. Unlike conventional finders, the Easy-Aim works well over a range of viewing distances and can be used with both eyes open! The Easy-Aim superimposes a variable brightness LED red dot on the sky at infinity that can be accurately and easily collimated with the main scope with just two adjuster knobs. The Easy-Aim is supplied with a standard two hole mounting foot and has a built-in quick release dovetail saddle. A universal mounting base is also included (attaching to the telescope tube with double sided sponge tape - included). The universal base allows the Easy-Aim to be attached to all telescopes with tube diameters ranging from 3.5” (90mm) upwards! The finder will fit all Meade ETX and LX telescopes. Depending on viewing distance the FOV is up to 10° - the red dot however, remains constant at 12 arc minutes in diameter regardless of viewing distance. A long life lithium battery and full instructions are included.

hood
Observing hood
Improves your view by eliminating stray light great for day or night observing

We've taken a simple time-honoured way to improve the eyepiece view by darkening the area around the eyepiece and eliminate stray light and improved it. A hole at one end for your head ensures that the hood stays were you need it, and a hem with sewn-in lead weights helps the hood shape itself to the equipment and so more effectively shut out stray light and resist wind-flap. Improves views night and day perfect for solar viewing, especially with Ha filters. Hand-made from quality black gabardine (you could almost wear it as a fashion statement!) the hood measures 94cm x 145cm (37" x 57").

binomate
The Bino-Mate binocular viewing head for 1.25” eyepieces

The benefits of viewing through the telescope with both eyes would seem to be obvious - yet the complexity and expense of achieving this has meant relatively few observers have actually had the privilege of such a viewing experience. Until now, that is. The Bino-Mate combines excellent performance and quality with a groundbreakingly low price. Weighing in at 500g (less than 18ozs without eyepieces) the Bino-Mate is probably the world’s lightest bino-viewer, and is ideally suited for use with even the smallest telescope.

Ideal for use with the Meade ETX range as well as all SCTs and most refracting telescopes. Two additional accessories are available for Bino-Mate: the Magni-Max 1.6x supplementary compensator lens (AC555) and the AC543 extension tube. The Magni-Max helps achieve focus with Newtonian telescopes and refractors with less than 100mm of focus in-travel (a standard 2x Barlow lens can be used but this is usually more powerful than is needed). The AC543 extension tube lifts the bino-viewer up by 43mm, allowing it to comfortably clear the finder to improve its use with some small telescopes like the Meade ETX range. The Bino-Mate will fit the ETX range and work very well as supplied - the viewer will be slightly crooked because of the finder (if fitted), but this makes no difference to the performance.

The Bino-Mate is supplied with a pair of rubber eyecups (with side blinkers to improve day-time viewing) and comes handsomely packed in a foam-filled attaché case with cutouts for four eyepieces.

Please note that the Bino-Mate requires a pair of additional matching 1.25”-fit eyepieces to function - not included.

Technical Specifications of the Bino-Mate (AC549)

Clear aperture 17mm
Interpupillary accommodation 52 -75mm

polar
1.25” and 2” Variable Polarising Filter

Our rotating-mount variable polarising filter unit is perfect for controlling brightness when making Lunar or other bright target observations. (Please note: these filters are not suitable for solar observation without an additional solar observation filter). Two identical polarising filters are mounted one above the other - the front filter is mounted in a smoothly rotating ring. By rotating the first filter the light passing through the stacked pair can be modified anywhere between 1 to 40%. The filter is also a very effective way of controlling the image brightness and getting workable exposures when taking webcam or CCD images of bright targets. Black anodised aluminium mounting. The 2” version is ideal for larger eyepieces and 2” camera nosepieces.

1.25” and 2” Neutral density filter

Our 15% neutral density filters are perfect for reducing brightness when making Lunar or other bright target observations. Although single density ND filters have less convenience than our variable polarising filters (see AC574 and AC583) there is less risk of reflections (and they are significantly less expensive!). Our ND filters are ideal for double star observations where attenuating the brightness of a bright star will allow you to see a companion more easily. (Please note: these filters, although useful to tune image brightness when making solar observations, are not suitable for solar observation without an additional solar observation filter). addon
Universal Solar Finder
A safe and accurate solar finder that easily attaches (permanent or temporary) to all telescopes large or small

Anyone who has used a solar observation filter or made observations by the eyepiece projection method knows the frustrations of accurately pointing an instrument at the sun. This cleverly designed finder has two collimatable targets: one permanently fixed, and the other magnetic and repositionable. The finder has a universal mounting platform (identical to the one supplied with the Easy-Aim Red dot finder AC544) with self-adhesive strips for permanent attachment. The kit is also supplied with a Velcro strap for quick temporary fitting to a wide range of instruments. Though compact enough for the smallest scopes, it is precise enough to point even long focal length telescopes accurately. Perfect for use with all Coronado MaxScopes.
