The Astro Engineering Sky Mirror - This product is available again after an absence of over 3 years! We were able to get the last few from the manufacturer and are are selling them off at a silly price. This brilliant item, from a British manufacturer, will never be available again. Much copied by competitors and home builders alike, the Sky Mirror is the original and best - and this is your last chance to get one!
The most comfortable and precise way to observe the night sky with binoculars - and at the truly unreapeatable price of just £168.99.
Please note, the binoculars shown are NOT included in the price.
The Sky-Mirror is quite simply the most comfortable way to observe the night-sky with binoculars. The experience of gazing down into a clear sky full of stars with the Sky-Mirror has to be felt to be believed! From the standpoint of sheer comfort and convenience the Sky-Mirror cannot be beaten. The mounting can be used on a table top and will allow an amazing 75% sky coverage from a typical sitting position.
The convenience can be enhanced by fitting the mounting to the Deluxe Pylon AC416 gear-head tripod (pictured below left).
The Sky-Mirror is precision engineered for superb performance and a lifetime of viewing pleasure. The main body parts are machined from black anodised aluminium plate with other parts cut from solid aluminium bar. The mirror support tray is specially constructed from aluminium sheet with stainless steel bearings. The viewing mirror is first surface silvered and is supplied with a protective lid for storage. The mirror support tray and the binocular support pillar have been designed to offer a large range of adjustment to accommodate a wide range of modern binoculars.
The Sky-Mirror is suitable for use with most binoculars up to a magnification maximum of around 20 times.
A special version of the super rigid "Pylon" all steel tripod fitted with a special vernier machine head has been designed for use with the Sky-Mirror. The vernier head features a quick release platform and a azimuth pan crank handle. The slow motion adjusters can be disengaged instantly to allow rapid repositioning of the Sky-Mirror (available seperatly at an equally greatly reduced price!).
The Sky-Mirror has been designed to be used by everyone who loves to look at the night sky but many of it's main features have a special appeal to astronomers with disabilities.
The eyepieces of the binocular remain in a fixed convenient attitude regardless of target position. The axis of azimuth (east-west) rotation is close to the observer requiring very little observer movement to cover large areas of sky. Because of this the Sky-Mirror can be comfortably operated from a wheel chair.
Sky locations ranging from the horizon directly in front of the observer to a point over and behind the head of the observer can be accessed simply by tilting the mirror.
The Sky-Mirror has an extremely robust construction and the observer can make heavy (steadying) contact with the binoculars without losing position or disturbing the image.
Supplied with mirror cover, built in compass and hard carry-case
